On July 1, 2024 Jeff Fisher stepped into a groundbreaking role as Co-Executive Director of Tunefoolery, a position that reflects both his enduring dedication and the organization’s evolution. Jeff, alongside fellow Tunefoolery musician Eugene McCarthy, made history as the first individuals in mental health recovery to co-lead the 30-year old organization, marking a new chapter in its mission to harness the healing power of music.

Jeff’s journey with Tunefoolery began in 2001 when he joined a small group of musicians who gathered at the Cambridge/

Somerville Social Club, bringing not just his musical talents and a few years of classical saxophone training at Boston’s New England Conservatory, and gaining a profound understanding of music’s capacity to transform lives. Over the years, Jeff added piano, guitar, vocals, whistling to his repertoire, and played hundreds of gigs and toured with the ‘Essex Street Band,’ and emerged as a cornerstone of the organization’s growth and spirit. His music resonated with audiences, but it was his unyielding commitment to the cause that truly set him apart.

In 2003, Jeff took on the role of Development Manager, where he spearheaded a variety of successful fundraising initiatives that fueled Tunefoolery’s expansion and outreach. His innovative approaches and strategic thinking led to record-breaking campaigns, enabling the organization to reach more individuals in need of its services.

By 2021, Jeff’s leadership and vision earned him a place on Tunefoolery’s Board of Directors. His contributions were not just about numbers or strategies; they were about creating a community where everyone, regardless of their background, could find hope and healing through music. Jeff’s influence extended far beyond the boardroom; he became a mentor, a guide, and an inspiration to all who crossed paths with him.

Now, as Co-Executive Director, Jeff’s extensive experience across various roles within the organization has prepared him to lead Tunefoolery into its next era. His journey is a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of compassion, and the belief that music can indeed change the world. Under his leadership, Tunefoolery continues to thrive as a beacon of hope, proving that with the right support, anyone can rise, lead, and inspire others.
