(They/He) Lou Binswanger is a guitarist, singer/songwriter and accomplished vocalist who started learning how to sing while attending synagogue as a child. Transferring the contents of their journal into melody is extremely cathartic and liberating for them. They’ve been able to connect with others through their confessional lyricism about their bipolar diagnosis, navigating romantic love and friendships and using their heart as a muscle. When Lou performs for Tunefoolery they enjoy being friendly and open with their audience; taking requests on the spot so everyone can hear their favorite tunes. In addition to live performances, Lou teaches a Songwriting Workshop at the Lindemann women’s shelter. Using their training as a Certified Peer Specialist, they structure their group around mutuality, shared experiences and combining visual art with attendees love of music. Lou hopes to continue serving the Tunefoolery community and making a difference in the places they used to be called a patient.
